The Loxton Netball Club is the 2024 recipient of the Woolworths NetSetGO Centre of the Year Award, for their work in providing a fun and inclusive program for the children of the Loxton District.
First introduced in 2022, this award recognises clubs and associations who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of junior netball in their community.
Loxton Netball Club had 60 NSG participants throughout 2024 take part in one of their programs, increasing from 18 participants compared to last year.
LNC divides the program into Net and Set who train together, and GO who trains separately, where they are divided into teams who play games each Friday.
The program was coordinated by Michele Pannel, along with the help of numerous coaches from across the community.
Training programs were also run on Thursday nights at the same time as football training, where kids would eat for free with their parents. Participants would also receive free oranges each week from the local Woolworths.
GO/U9 participants also got involved in interclub games on Friday nights, where they would travel throughout the Riverland to play against other clubs.
The LNC demonstrated the ability to support and guide their coaches to use the NSG program in a unique and interactive play having incorporated modified match play opportunities for their GO participants.
Furthermore, the club went above and beyond to secure grant funding, allowing them to buy all GO participants playing dresses for them to wear on game day.
Loxton Netball Club accepted the NetSetGo Centre of the Year Award at Netball SA’s 2024 Awards Gala Dinner on Friday, October 4th.
